Which rip software is right for you?


It depends applications and geographical position.

Rip choose like Fashion...

1-France ,and French Speaker countries priority is always CALDERA..(This doesnt mean it is not good,Caldera is most effective Rip I have ever seen)

2-German prefers mostly Colorgate Rip  which is user friendly rip.

3.Chinese printers mostly Choose Photoprint DX rip due to cost but it is also effective rip:

 4.World Most selling and known rip USA made ONYX is also prefered by Middle East,USA mostly and some OEM manufacturer is bundle with :

5.Another performance and price effective Rip which OEMs DGI,Eurotech and Dgen bundle with is Wasatch SoftRip.

6.Specially effective color efficency rip Ergosoft Posterprint and Textile specialized Texprint is also common on the market.

Performance effective:

3-Onyx

Easy Use effective:
1.Colorgate
2.Onyx
3.Wasatch


Price effective:
1-SAi Photoprint
2-Wasatch
3-Colorgate

Overall my ranking:

3.Caldera(if money and Linux is no issue,chose it)
4.Colorgate
5.Ergosoft(if color you have issue and price is not issue ,choose)

I always choose number 2 in my life... WASATCH is my choose on solvent type printers and ERGOSOFT for Textile on Dgen and Mimaki printers..

Rip softwares,raster images processors,are most important processing factor for good colors,for digital printing.

Rip softwares, are creating many opportunities for the digital print offices.

I personally recommend for selected applications

Textile applications: Texprint,Wasatch
Solvent applications:(Grand format) : Onyx, Colorgate,Caldera
Solvent Applications: (wide format): Wasatch,Photoprint,Posterprint,Caldera,Colorgate
UV applications: Caldera,Onyx is the leader.

If the issue is effectiveness ,not the cost, Caldera and Onyx is the top level. If the issue is medium level both, then Colorgate and Posterprint is the function.
If you look good functionality but also good price then Wasatch is alone.
And if you look pricewise only, SAI Photoprint is the key one.

Of course,this is my experience from 15 years.
